Awarding ceremony for winners of West Asian Championship

As we previously informed, from June 14 to June 23, the West Asian Championship among chess players aged 8 to 18 years was held in the Republic of Maldives. At the championship, chess players of our country collected 10 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. According to the total results of the championship Uzbekistan took over the second place among the participant countries of the championship.

Today, an awarding ceremony for chess players who successfully participated in a prestigious competition was held at the Palace of Youth Creativity in Tashkent.

Director of the Agency for Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Chess Federation Alisher Sadullayev, officials of the Chess Federation, winners and prize-winners of the championship, their parents, as well as media representatives took part in the event.

Chess players were awarded cash prizes and vouchers by the Agency for Youth Affairs and the Chess Federation in accordance with their results at the West Asian Championship. In particular, Umida Omonova, Afruza Hamdamova, Abdumajid Botiraliyev, who won three gold medals in the championship, received 31 million soums, Muhiddin Madaminov, who collected 3 silver medals, got 22 million soums , and 7 other young athletes were encouraged with cash prizes ranging from 4 million to 15 million soums. It should be noted that gifts were also given to 3 chess coaches who make a great contribution to ensuring the worthy participation of our young players in the world arenas.

After that, a press conference was held on the last three months of activities of the Chess Federation and preparations for the 44th World Chess Olympiad to be held in Chennai, India. Journalists from various mass media received answers to their questions.

The Agency for Youth Affairs wishes good luck to the representatives of our country who will defend the honor of Uzbekistan at the next Olympiad in Chennai.
