Uzbekistan will fight to host the World Chess Olympiad


The 44th World Chess Olympiad is planned to be held in Chennai, India, from July 28 to August 8 of this year. In addition to chess competitions, tender events for the hosting of the 45th World Chess Olympiad, which will be held in 2026, will be held.


Today, a meeting was held in our capital regarding the issues of appropriate participation in the competitions within the framework of this year's Olympiad, as well as the tender for the hosting of the 2026 World Chess Olympiad.


Officials participating in the 44th World Chess Olympiad, members of the Uzbekistan national team participating in the competitions and the composition of the delegation were discussed at the meeting.


For information, the World Chess Olympiad is the most prestigious competition in the world of chess and has been held since 1924. Uzbekistan, the land of international chess masters and grandmasters, will participate as a candidate in the tender announced by the General Assembly of FIDE for the hosting of the 2026 Olympics.


The team of the Youth Affairs Agency wishes the delegation of Uzbekistan good luck in the tender for the hosting of the 2026 World Olympic Games.
